Jakarta Sewerage Development Project (JSDP) or also known as Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Zone 1 Jakarta is planned to be built in Pluit, North Jakarta. JSDP Zone 1 Pluit is located on the West side of the Pluit Reservoir. The site is 3.9 hectares in with various potentials in it.
The Waste Water Treatment Plant building was designed to make a positive contribution to the surrounding environment. The design concept gives more attention to the public spaces for building users and the surrounding communities that applied to the design by responding to the existing conditions.
The interaction space was designed to be the relaxing and recreation area for the workers and visitors with a panoramic view of the Pluit Reservoir. It is also functioned as a melting pot, to accommodate public activities in the site area. By providing the public spaces, it will strengthen the impression of Landmark Building through the intensity of various activities. And also become an educational facility for the urban communities regarding the process of waste water treatment with modern and advanced technology.
With the various public activities surrounding the site, making the building facades needs to be designed dynamically. So it resulting the different space experiences in each space. The facade elements was designed by adapting Betawi form that became the icons of Jakarta. There is the transformation of facades that adapting the form of “Gigi Balang” and Cempaka flower.
Gigi Balang elements was transformed into a contemporary and dynamic form for the iconic facade impressions by using twisted hot dipped galvanized steel plate material. The facade of MBR Tank building was adopted the form of Cempaka Flower which is also a traditional ornamental form of Jakarta, which has a meaning as a symbol of authority and shows closeness to nature. The Cempaka flower facades was designed with Aluminium Composite Panel.
The facade elements are also adopting formed by natural elements. That is through the form of raindrops which has the meaning as one of the elements that maintain the life balance on earth. The raindrops façade was designed with custom patterns of Aluminium Composite Panel material.
Overall, the JSDP building is designed to be more open and friendly to visitors, so it is more humane and has positive values. The strategic location also makes the facility has the potential as an educational tourism destination with the silhouette of the city of Jakarta that continues to evolve. In this facility there is also space to feel the city ambience so that it becomes an addition to the public space to be enjoyed together.
